Palestine
- Annual Childhood Cancer Cases:Approximately 7.8% of all cancer cases in Palestine are children.
- Common Cancers:Leukemia (30.2%), brain and nervous system cancers (18.5%), and lymphoma (7.4%).
Challenges:Restricted mobility, limited access to specialized care, and ongoing conflict.
Ghana
Annual Childhood Cancer Cases:Over 1,000, with common types including leukemia, lymphoma, retinoblastoma, and Wilms tumor.
- Challenges:Late presentation, high treatment costs, and limited access to specialized care.
Nigeria
- Annual Childhood Cancer Cases:Approximately 9,100, constituting 7.2% of the 127,000 total cancer cases.
- Common Cancers:Leukemias, brain tumors, lymphomas, and solid tumors like neuroblastoma and Wilms tumor.
- Survival Rate with Early Treatment:Up to 80%.
Kenya
- Annual Childhood Cancer Cases:Around 3,000, with leukemia, retinoblastoma, and Wilms tumor being prevalent.
- Survival Rate:Approximately 20%, significantly lower than in developed countries.
- Challenges:Late diagnosis, high treatment costs, and limited specialized care.
Uganda
- Annual Childhood Cancer Cases:Approximately 3,000, with prevalent types being Burkitt lymphoma, acute leukemia, Wilms tumor, and rhabdomyosarcoma.
- Survival Rate:Around 20–30%, with many cases going undiagnosed.
